The purpose of the study is to scientifically substantiate and quantify the impact of innovative technologies on the competitiveness of human capital in the agricultural sector, as well as to identify the determining conditions and mechanisms for the development of the intellectual and technological potential of the industry. Theoretical approaches to the interaction of digitalization and human capital are analyzed based on endogenous theories of innovation, concepts of competence development and the Skill-Biased model Technological Change (SBTC). The two-way nature of this relationship is established, where innovations form the need for new skills, and the level of human capital determines the efficiency of technology use. A correlation analysis of economic and technological indicators of the agricultural sector of the EU, USA, Canada and OECD countries was conducted, which showed a close relationship between the level of digitalization, employment and gross value added. Regression analysis of time series confirmed the positive impact of innovation spending on the dynamics of gross value added, especially in the USA and OECD countries. Special attention is paid to the role of digitalization, risk insurance and the development of employee competencies as the main mechanisms for increasing productivity, sustainability and competitiveness of human capital. A basic one-dimensional linear regression model is proposed to quantitatively assess the impact of innovation spending on the change in gross value added (GVA) of the agricultural sector. The need for an integrated policy to support innovation, the development of digital competencies, and financial instruments that ensure stable economic development of the agricultural sector and the strengthening of its human resources potential is emphasized.
Olena PTASHCHENKO Fedir TKACHYK Bohdana SHULIUK Ihor KRYSOVATYY Iryna FEDOROVYCH Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 001 019 10.5281/zenodo.20075476 The Economic Impacts of the February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş-Centered Earthquakes on Entrepreneurs in Türkiye https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/884
This study aims to examine the economic impacts of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, which occurred on February 6, 2023, on entrepreneurs in Türkiye. Due to time and budget constraints, the research was conducted in the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Malatya, Gaziantep, and Hatay, which were both the most affected by the disaster. Semi-structured interviews were used as the data collection method. In-depth interviews were conducted with representatives of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Trade Chambers, Industry Chambers, and Commodity Exchanges operating in these provinces. The findings revealed significant issues, such as labor shortages and physical damage in the region, with many entrepreneurs losing their homes and/or workplaces. Some entrepreneurs were forced to relocate to other provinces to continue operations and avoid market losses. Furthermore, micro and small enterprises were identified as the most affected groups. Additionally, it was observed that the consumption preferences and priorities of businesses and individuals in the region shifted following the earthquake.
Mehmet MARANGOZ Hatice Hicret GÖRGÜLÜ Çağrı İZCİ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 020 054 10.5281/zenodo.20153198 Infrastructure Restoration as a Mechanism for Building Investment Resilience in Post-Conflict Regions: Strategic Approach to Public Administration https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/972
The article presents a comprehensive analysis of infrastructure recovery management as a strategic instrument for attracting investment in post-conflict regions. The relevance of the study is justified by the large-scale destruction of critical infrastructure, heightened security risks, and the need to stabilize economic processes and create conditions for long-term development. The study demonstrates that effective public management mechanisms play a decisive role in restoring investment attractiveness and enabling the transition from crisis response to sustainable modernization. The research assesses the effectiveness of strategic planning tools, digital management of infrastructure projects, public–private partnerships, risk-based approaches, and innovative reconstruction practices. Structural transformations in state infrastructure policy are analyzed, including the establishment of specialized recovery institutions, the introduction of digital monitoring platforms, increased regionalization of reconstruction processes, and the evolution of international assistance mechanisms. The methodological framework is based on systematic, comparative, and economic-analytical approaches, including scenario modeling, assessment of investment attractiveness, institutional analysis, and the synthesis of international post-conflict reconstruction experience. The findings identify key success factors for investment attraction, such as governance quality, procedural transparency, digitalization, security guarantees, and effective communication with international partners. The results have practical value for policymakers, regional authorities, and international stakeholders involved in post-conflict recovery and modernization strategies.
Arsenii VASIN Nina PETRUKHA Serhii PETRUKHA Ihor KONONENKO Svitlana KUSTOVA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 055 073 10.5281/zenodo.21046127 The Emergence of Marine Freight Rate Bubbles Following the COVID-19 Outbreak https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/856
This research analyzes the formation and growth of price bubbles in the marine freight industry by using the Supremum Augmented Dickey-Fuller (SADF) and Generalized Supremum Augmented Dickey-Fuller (GSADF) econometric methods, utilizing data from the Baltic Dry Index (BDI). The study covers the timeframe from the 47th week of 2019 to the 51st week of 2023. Research indicates the presence of eight separate pricing bubbles in the marine industry worldwide during this period. Quarterly, the distribution of bubbles was as follows: one in Q1 2020, one in Q2 2021, two in Q4 2021, one in Q1 2022, and one each in Q1, Q3, and Q4 of 2023. Significantly, six of these bubbles appeared before the World Health Organization declared that COVID-19 no longer represented a worldwide public health emergency. The emergence of these first bubbles is intricately linked to pandemic-related events, including heightened demand for raw materials, interruptions from lockdowns, impacts of economic recovery, and shortages of vessels. The latter two bubbles, seen after COVID, may be ascribed to logistical constraints at Brazilian ports and heightened cargo quantities of coal, iron ore, and bauxite.
Metin YILDIRIM Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 074 097 10.5281/zenodo.20487872 Digital Platforms as a Catalyst for Logistics Development and Process Optimization https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/973
The development of enterprise competitiveness is strongly influenced by the digitalization of business processes and the integration of advanced information technologies. The purpose of this study was to analyze digital management tools and assess their impact on the efficiency and adaptive capacity of Ukrainian enterprises during 2023–2025. The research employed analytical and economic methods, comparative analysis, systematization, generalization, synthesis, and classification and correlation approaches. The information base included data on business process digitalization, performance indicators of ERP and CRM systems, digital platforms, and analytical materials on the application of IoT, blockchain technologies, artificial intelligence, cloud solutions, and Big Data. The results demonstrate a positive relationship between business process digitalization and enterprise competitiveness. The implementation of digital platforms integrating production, financial, marketing, and logistics functions, along with automated analytics and AI-driven tools, enables faster managerial decision-making, greater operational transparency, and cost reduction. These factors contribute to enhanced business flexibility, the development of innovative staff competencies, and increased adaptive potential. Enterprises with a high level of digital transformation show higher productivity, lower operating costs, improved product and service quality, and stronger customer interaction. Case examples from Ukrainian companies, including Myronivskyi Hliboproduct, Nova Poshta, Foxtrot, Varus, and Aurora, confirm the practical effectiveness of digitalization. Overall, digital transformation is a strategic instrument for strengthening enterprise competitiveness in a dynamic global environment.
Anastasiia ARTOMOVA Oleksandra KAZARIAN Iryna ZRYBNIEVA Irina PAVLOVA Nataliia TSYMBALENKO Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 098 118 10.5281/zenodo.20518223 Selection of Customs Representatives for Sustainable Export Operations https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/902
Customs representatives play a critical role in import and export operations as they act as a bridge between companies and the government. Working with the right customs representative saves companies time, money, and reputation. At this point, choosing the best customs representative is of utmost importance. The aim of this study is to identify the most important criteria for selecting the right customs representative, especially to ensure the sustainable execution of export operations, and to define the ideal profile of a customs representative based on these criteria. To determine the objective weights of the evaluation criteria, the Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods CRITIC and MOORA were applied. WUI is measured using the World Uncertainty Index for Türkiye, and the ARDL bounds testing approach is applied to identify both long-term equilibrium patterns and short-term adjustments. Economic growth and financial deepening are included as control variables. The estimates show that WUI does not produce a statistically detectable effect on CO₂, whereas HE is positively associated with emissions (0.3228). The error-correction coefficient (−0.2608) indicates that about 26% of short-run disequilibria disappear in each period. Overall, the findings suggest that environmental outcomes in Türkiye are shaped more strongly by real and sectoral dynamics than by uncertainty, highlighting the need to align health policies with environmental sustainability objectives.
Ömer Uğur BULUT Tuncer YILMAZ Hülya KÜÇÜK BAYRAKTAR Mehmet Fatih ASLANTAŞ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 138–159 138–159 10.5281/zenodo.20530597 The Role of Digital Taxation Reforms in the Shadow Economy, Auditing, and Financial Reporting: Ataşehir Case in Türkiye https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/919
This study explores how digital taxation reforms influence the shadow economy, auditing processes, and financial reporting practices at the local government level in Türkiye. It focuses on the factors shaping tax performance in public administration. The research adopts a qualitative approach based on in-depth interviews with 15 professionals from the Financial Services Directorate of the Ataşehir Municipality in Istanbul. The findings suggest that digital tax systems bring practical benefits, especially in terms of saving time and improving access to data. These changes appear to support auditing and financial reporting processes and may also help reduce informal economic activities by encouraging taxpayer compliance. At the same time, the results show that such benefits do not emerge automatically. Their effectiveness depends on factors such as taxpayer awareness, digital literacy, the availability of qualified staff, and the clarity of institutional and legal arrangements. While the findings are drawn from the Ataşehir Municipality, they also offer broader insights into public sector digitalization, particularly regarding the role of e-taxation in reducing the shadow economy and strengthening fiscal accountability.
Dilek AKBAŞ AKDOĞAN Gamze Yıldız ŞEREN Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 160 182 10.5281/zenodo.20546854 Psychological Landscape of Consumption: Examining the Nexus between Self-Esteem, Dunning Kruger Effect and Conspicuous Consumption for Gen Z https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/921
Consumption is an essential tool for an individual to express himself in society. One of the crucial consumption patterns that can be taken into account in this situation is conspicuous consumption. It is possible to discuss the existence of numerous psychographic internal factors that influence an individual's consumption behavior. In this context, self-esteem uses consumption as a tool in the individual's journey to reach the ideal self. Based on this conceptual framework, conspicuous consumption behavior may be a choice that an individual can apply to increase self-esteem. This study examines the moderator role of the Dunning-Kruger (D-K) Effect in the interaction of self-esteem and conspicuous consumption. Considering the variables, the research is interdisciplinary, based on the psychology, microeconomics, and consumer behavior literature. The research discusses how the interaction between the dependent and independent variable emerges in the moderation of the D-K Effect, which can be described as a self-assessment failure, over the Gen Z population. Finally, as a result of the analysis, it was found that a high level of D-K moderates the effect of self-esteem on conspicuous consumption.
Alişan BALTACI Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 183 200 10.5281/zenodo.20560805 Norms Under Fire: The EU’S Political and Economic Reorientation in Response to Russian Aggression https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/926
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 represents a pivotal turning point that has profoundly transformed the European Union’s (EU) foreign policy and economic orientation. This study examines the EU’s evolving policies in the post-war context through two main dimensions: political and economic transformation. It explores how the Russia–Ukraine War has reshaped the EU’s strategic posture and why this shift is crucial in the context of global power dynamics. The central argument is that the EU has reconfigured its long-standing reliance on normative power and market integration toward a more geopolitical, defense-oriented, and strategically autonomous policy framework. Drawing on qualitative analysis of EU foreign policy and energy strategy documents, academic studies, and think-tank reports, the research identifies the war as a Zeitenwende, a historical turning point for the EU. Politically, the Union has advanced a more integrated and responsive Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), emphasizing defense and security cohesion. Economically, it has reduced dependence on Russian energy, reinforced energy security, and recalibrated Green Deal priorities. While these shifts indicate deeper integration, persistent vulnerabilities and structural constraints continue to challenge the EU’s strategic coherence. Overall, the war has accelerated the EU’s transition from a normative to a geopolitical actor in an increasingly multipolar world.
Ayşegül KETENCI Sinan BATAKLAR Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 201 228 10.5281/zenodo.20560922 Comparative Analysis Of R&D Expenditure Performance in the European Union: An Application Using the OCRA Method https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/930
In the current era of intense global competition, countries that develop technology rather than just adopting it can emerge as leaders. As a result of the analysis of keywords, it was found that terms such as ‘ERP’, ‘law firms’ and ‘information security’, where innovative technologies such as ‘artificial intelligence’, ‘big data’ and ‘blockchain’ are increasingly the subject of research, are included in a limited number of studies. This research will provide a strategic perspective to both academia and practitioners by filling the gaps in the cloud accounting literature. It will be an important resource for understanding and guiding the evolution of accounting practices in the digital transformation process.
Mustafa ZEYTİN Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 245 264 10.5281/zenodo.20563212 Bridging The Green Gap with Fashiontech: How AI-Driven Styling Apps Enhance Sustainable Fashion Consumption https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/956
This study investigates how AI-driven FashionTech applications influence sustainable fashion consumption within the Stimulus–Organism–Response (S–O–R) framework. While digital styling tools are increasingly embedded in consumers’ shopping journeys, their role in shaping sustainability-related knowledge and behavior remains underexplored. Analyzing a large-scale secondary dataset of 7,174 global consumers, a structural equation model (SEM) was estimated to test the effects of two technology stimuli—app usage and visual search features—on environmental knowledge and subsequent behavioral outcomes. Results show that both app use and visual search significantly increase sustainability knowledge (β = 0.07, p < 0.001). Knowledge, in turn, enhances consumers’ willingness to pay a premium for sustainable fashion (β = 0.05, p < 0.001). App use also directly increases willingness to pay (β = 0.12, p < 0.001) and reduces overall shopping frequency (β = –0.05, p < 0.001), indicating a shift toward more conscious consumption. Visual search does not significantly influence shopping frequency (β = –0.01, n.s.), suggesting that its role is primarily cognitive. The study contributes to digital consumer behavior literature by demonstrating that AI-enabled fashion tools can generate meaningful but incremental progress toward sustainable consumption.
Alp PAR Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 265–281 265–281 10.5281/zenodo.20563214 Machine Learning–Based Financial Distress Prediction: Evidence from Borsa Istanbul Manufacturing Firms https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/963
Accurate financial distress prediction is crucial for investors, regulators, and firm managers to mitigate risk and enhance early warning systems. This study investigates the effectiveness of alternative machine learning approaches for financial distress prediction using firm-level financial ratios. Financial distress is modeled as a binary classification problem, where profitability, liquidity, leverage, and activity ratios are employed as explanatory variables. To assess the impact of alternative modeling approaches, three complementary classification models are implemented: Logistic Regression as a linear model, Support Vector Machine with Principal Component Analysis as a kernel-based nonlinear approach, and Random Forest as a tree-based ensemble method. Model performance is evaluated using accuracy, macro F1-score, recall for the distressed class, and the area under the ROC curve, alongside stratified cross-validation to assess robustness and generalization ability. The empirical results indicate that while LR provides strong and interpretable baseline performance, the RF model consistently outperforms alternative approaches across all key evaluation metrics, achieving the highest macro F1-score and ROC–AUC values. Feature importance analysis reveals that profitability indicators are the most influential predictors of financial distress, followed by liquidity measures. The findings demonstrate that ensemble-based machine learning models offer substantial improvements in financial distress prediction by capturing nonlinear relationships and complex interactions among financial ratios. The results highlight the importance of profitability and liquidity in explaining financial distress and support the use of RF models as a robust and effective framework for early warning systems.
Anıl GACAR Burcu KOCARIK GACAR Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 283 303 10.5281/zenodo.20563216 Uncovering Industrial Symbiosis Opportunities through Social Network Analysis: Case Study of Izmir Ataturk Organised Industrial Zone https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/964
Industrial symbiosis (IS) is a novel production system in which firms operating in different industries exchange resources (waste, by-products, energy, water, and information) to enhance resource efficiency and prevent waste. IS applications are primarily based on inter-firm cooperation. An important tool for understanding these collaborations or identifying potential partnerships is social network analysis (SNA). To analyse how SNA can be used in IS practices, the present study identified potential symbiotic relationships and constructed an IS network for firms operating within one organised industrial zone in Türkiye, the İzmir Atatürk Organised Industrial Zone (IAOIZ). In particular, centrality measures were used to reveal which sectors were central to the network and thus played key roles. The findings indicated that these central sectors (metal, cement, glass, and ceramics industries, electricity, chemical, agriculture, paper, plastic, and food sectors) both generate the largest amount of waste and use waste as raw material. The resulting industrial symbiosis network can assist regional policymakers in making decisions. Policymakers can provide support in areas such as legislation, incentives, and the establishment of eco-industrial parks for the sectors identified in this study as having a high ES relationship. Furthermore, such network-based analyses provide a methodological framework for future studies, thereby laying the groundwork for the widespread adoption of industrial symbiosis applications.
Özlem Sema ÖZCAN Utku AKSEKİ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 304–327 304–327 10.5281/zenodo.21045206 Perceived Impact of Digital Marketing Practices on Travel Agency Performance https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/975
Measuring marketing performance has been a matter of interest for professionals and stakeholders. This study aims to forecast future container demand in the Northeastern Marmara Region by examining the effects of key macroeconomic indicators, namely gross domestic product (GDP), population, and foreign trade balance, and to provide strategic insights for port capacity planning and sectoral development. To achieve this objective, panel data regression analysis is employed to identify the relationships between container demand and the selected variables. At the same time, time-series forecasting techniques are applied to predict future cargo and container volumes. In this context, ARIMA, Exponential Smoothing (ETS), TBATS, Extreme Learning Machine (ELM), and Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) neural network models are comparatively analyzed using the R statistical software. The empirical findings reveal that GDP has a statistically significant and positive effect on both total cargo and container volumes. In contrast, population and the foreign trade balance have a negative or statistically insignificant effect. Forecasting results indicate a substantial increase in container handling volumes at the Northeastern Marmara ports over the next five-year period, with the TBATS model providing the most accurate predictions among the methods applied. The study contributes to the literature by integrating panel data analysis with multiple forecasting techniques. It offers practical implications for port authorities and policymakers in developing capacity expansion strategies and improving demand-oriented port management.
Yusuf BAYKAN Murat YORULMAZ Mert SUSOY Ayşe TAŞ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 367 394 10.5281/zenodo.20563222 The Impact of Economic Growth and External Debt on Turkey’s Trade Openness in the Context of Global Accounting Integration https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/967
In a period where globalization dynamics are becoming more prominent, countries’ openness is largely shaped by external debt, economic growth, and the financial transparency promoted by international standards. This study examines the effects of external debt and economic growth on Turkey’s openness for the 1989–2019 period. The stationarity of the series is tested using the ADF approach, while long-run relationships are analyzed through the ARDL Bounds Test and the error-correction model. The findings show that external debt and economic growth increase openness in the long run, and short-run shocks converge to equilibrium at a rate of 21%. The study provides a strong contribution to the literature by offering an original assessment of openness dynamics within the context of financial transparency and global accounting integration.
Fatih KOÇ Sinan ÇINAR Banu HAS Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 395 412 10.5281/zenodo.20563224 Examining the Impact of Artificial Intelligence Applications on Generation Z Through the Example of ChatGPT https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/976
This study aims to examine the attitudes (cognitive, emotional, and behavioral) of Generation Z towards ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence application developed by OpenAI. A non-probabilistic sampling method, convenience sampling, was employed. The data collected were analyzed using MAXQDA software. According to the research findings, the most important factors in deciding to use ChatGPT are friends/social circle and social media. The most significant variable in the motivation for using ChatGPT is access to information. The prominent dimensions in ChatGPT usage behavior are academic life, assignments, and information acquisition. In the emotional dimension of attitudes towards ChatGPT, the most prominent variable is curiosity, followed by admiration, anxiety, excitement, and doubt. In negative evaluations of ChatGPT, ethical and security concerns and distrust of the information obtained stand out. Participants are aware of various risks associated with the use of AI: the risk of replacing human interaction, posing a threat to social skills and emotional regulation; ethical issues and data security concerns, increasing participants' need for fact-checking behavior. This research focuses on a significant gap in the field by examining how Generation Z's attitudes (cognitive, emotional, and behavioral) towards the ChatGPT artificial intelligence application are formed, which dimensions and factors influence Generation Z.
Hakan TAN İsnur İnci ARMUTLU Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 413 442 10.5281/zenodo.20563226 The Relationship Between Benoit Hypothesis and Rural Value Added ın Türkiye For The Period 1973 – 2023 with Fourier Type Tests https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/980
The econometric model of the study consists of economic growth, rural value added and defense expenditures. The purpose of the study is to specify whether there is a causality relationship between economic growth, defense expenditures and rural value-added variables in Turkey. In accordance with the results unit root tests, the rural value added, economic growth and defense expenditure variables are stationary at level values and first difference levels. According to the results of Tsong – Lee – Tsai – Hu cointegration test, there is no long run relationship between the economic growth, defense expenditures and rural value-added variables. According to the results of Fourier type Toda Yamamoto causality test, there is a bidirectional causality relationship between economic growth, defense expenditure and rural value-added variables in Turkey. The original value of the study is that since defense expenditure and rural value added affect the economic growth variable, the increase or decrease in one variable is thought to affect the increase or decrease in other variable. Consequently, in terms of economic growth, there is an opportunity cost between defense expenditure and rural value-added variables.
Huseyin KARAHAN Melih ÖZÇALIK Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 443 460 10.5281/zenodo.20563228 Pilot Error in Aviation from a Human Factors Perspective: A Bibliometric Approach https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/981
This study aims to examine scientific publications on pilot error in aviation using bibliometric analysis. The Scopus database was searched using the keywords "pilot error" and "aviation" at the title, abstract, and keyword levels; only studies published in English were considered. Data was collected as of September 2025 using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method. The findings indicate a significant upward trend in publications on pilot error from 1946 to the present. Particularly since the 2000s, the increasing academic interest in human factors, flight safety, and automation has led to a notable increase in the number of publications. Most of these publications appear in sources such as SAE Technical Papers, Human Factors, and International Air Safety Seminar Proceedings, demonstrating the interdisciplinary nature of the topic. When examined by the author, Baker, S.P., and Li, G. were identified as the most productive researchers. Institutional distribution was highlighted by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Northern Illinois University, and NASA Langley Research Center, while national productivity was largely centered in the United States. This demonstrates the US's leadership in pilot error research and its strong academic infrastructure. Document type analysis revealed that most publications were articles (57.5%) and conference proceedings (33%). This finding demonstrates that the topic is actively addressed in both academic and applied research. Overall, the results demonstrate that pilot error research continues to receive increasing interest in the 21st century and has matured as an interdisciplinary field within human factors and aviation safety.
Nil KONYALILAR Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 461 477 10.5281/zenodo.20563230 Procedural Justice, Negative Emotions, and Affective Commitment within Boundary-Spanning Roles: The Conditional Role of Organization-Based Self-Esteem https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1008
Procedural justice plays a central role in shaping employees’ attitudes toward their organization, yet the emotional processes through which justice perceptions translate into negative emotional experiences remain insufficiently understood. Drawing on Social Exchange Theory, Affective Events Theory, and Conservation of Resources Theory (COR), this study examines affective commitment as a conditional emotional pathway linking procedural justice to negative emotions, while identifying organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) as a critical boundary condition. Survey data were collected from 358 boundary spanning employees, and the proposed moderated mediation model was tested using PROCESS Macro Model 14 with bootstrapping procedures. The results show that procedural justice is positively associated with affective commitment, which in turn is negatively related to negative emotions. The direct effect of procedural justice on negative emotions was nonsignificant, indicating an indirect-only mediation pattern. Furthermore, OBSE moderated the relationship between affective commitment and negative emotions, such that the negative association was significant at low levels of OBSE but became nonsignificant at high levels of OBSE. Accordingly, the indirect effect of procedural justice on negative emotions through affective commitment was conditional on employees’ levels of organization-based self-esteem. These findings suggest that affective commitment operates as a conditional emotional pathway through which procedural justice shapes employees’ emotional experiences, particularly among those with lower organization-based self-esteem. The study contributes to the justice and emotions literature by clarifying when and for whom procedural justice matters most for emotional well-being.
Jale MİNİBAŞ-POUSSARD Tutku SECKIN Ahmet Tuğrul TUGER Haluk Baran BINGOL Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 478 497 10.5281/zenodo.20563232 Evaluation of the Remote Working Model from the Employees’ Perspective: Qualitative Research https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1035
This study aims to examine how the remote work model is experienced by employees and its effects on work outcomes, motivation, work-life balance, organizational commitment, and social relationships from the employees’ perspective. The study was designed using a phenomenological design within the framework of a qualitative research approach. The data required for the research were obtained from 56 employees with remote work experience, working in different sectors, through semi-structured interview forms. The data obtained were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that remote work offers important advantages for employees, such as time and location flexibility, autonomy, work-life balance, and individual productivity. However, the findings also reveal that the remote work model can lead to significant negative consequences such as social isolation, weakened organizational belonging, communication and coordination difficulties, digital fatigue, and blurred work-life boundaries. The research results show that remote work does not have a one-sided effect on employees; rather, it is experienced in different ways depending on individual characteristics, the nature of the work, and the level of organizational support.
Onur OKTAYSOY M. Evidence from Turkish Manufacturing Firms https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1060
This paper investigates whether Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance enhances firm-level efficiency in the short term, focusing on Turkish manufacturing firms. Using panel data from 16 firms listed on Borsa Istanbul over the period 2019-2023, the analysis employs fixed-effects models with robust estimators to account for heterogeneity and potential dependence structures. The findings indicate that ESG performance is not statistically significant in explaining operational efficiency, innovation, or firm growth in the short run. While the contemporaneous effect on production efficiency is weak and sensitive to estimation methods, the evidence for lagged ESG effects remains limited and sensitive to estimation methods. These results suggest that ESG does not generate robust short-term performance gains but may operate through longer-term and context-dependent mechanisms. Overall, the study highlights the importance of time horizon and methodological choices in evaluating ESG-performance relations.
Ayşe Gamze ÇİFTÇİ AYTEKİN Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 527 550 10.5281/zenodo.20563238 A Comparative Analysis of Financial Performance With Altman Z, Springate S Score and Zmijewski Models: A Research on The Cement Sector in Istanbul Stock Exchange https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1001
Companies' growth, development, survival, and profitability depend on their ability to compete with other companies operating in the same sector. To achieve this goal, companies must use their resources effectively and efficiently and avoid inappropriate resource waste. This study estimates the financial risk exposure of cement-producing companies listed on the Borsa Istanbul and whose shares are publicly traded. Financial data from cement-producing companies covering a 4-year, 48-period period between 2021 and 2024 was used. The companies' financial risk (bankruptcy) status was estimated using the Altman Z, Springate S, and Zmijewski J-Score models. At the end of the study, a prediction was made regarding whether firms are exposed to bankruptcy risk using the Altman Z-score, Springate S, and Zmijewski J methods. Based on financial risk (bankruptcy) and financial soundness studies conducted using three different models, it was found that BSOKE and BTCIM firms were at risk of bankruptcy for all periods studied using the Altman Z-score and Springate S methods, and for the 2021-2022 periods using the Zmijewski J model. Similarly, the same models concluded that NUHCM, OYAKC, and BISCIM firms were financially sound in all three models. The study concluded that, over a period of 4 years and 48 periods, 0.62 of the firms were financially sound and not at risk of bankruptcy according to the Altman Z-score method, 0.50 according to the Springate S method, and 0.85 according to the Zmijewski J-score. The study found that the Altman Z-score and Springate S methods yielded similar results, but there was a slight difference in the Zmijewski J-score method. This is primarily due to the lower bankruptcy risk parameters in the Zmijewski J model compared to the other two methods. The analysis results indicate that the methods used to calculate the firms' bankruptcy risk yielded similar results.
Cengiz GÜNEY Tunay ASLAN Gökhan BARAL Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 551 578 10.5281/zenodo.20573557 An Empirical Analysis of The Impact Of The Climate Crisis on The Misery Index in The Countries of the Mena Region https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1011
This study examines the macroeconomic effects of climate-induced environmental pressures in 17 countries in the MENA region, selected due to their high sensitivity to climate change and economic vulnerability. Quantitative analysis method was used in the study. Data were collected via a structured questionnaire from a sample of 620 online consumers active on platforms such as Trendyol, Hepsiburada, and Amazon. Findings indicate that entertainment, trendiness, and personalization significantly influence e-WOM behavior. Notably, interactivity was found to have no significant effect on e-WOM. On the other hand, interaction, trending, and personalization were significant determinants of purchase intention, while entertainment did not have a direct impact. These results suggest that while hedonic content drives peer-to-peer sharing, utilitarian and interactive elements are more critical for driving actual purchase intent.
Burcu Mucan ÖZCAN Mustafa Kerem YAZICI Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 603 622 10.5281/zenodo.20573570 Determining The Level of Financial Literacy Among Secondary School Students: The Case of Sakarya Province https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1023
The aim of this study is to determine the financial literacy level of secondary school students attending different types of secondary schools and to compare it with the financial literacy levels of secondary school students studying in the accounting and finance department. To this end, data were collected from 431 participants in secondary education institutions in four central districts of Sakarya Province, namely Adapazarı, Arifiye, Erenler, and Serdivan, during the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year using a questionnaire method. The data were analysed using the SPSS 25.0 programme. The analyses revealed that secondary school students studying accounting and finance did not show a significant difference in terms of financial knowledge, financial attitudes, and financial behaviour compared to students studying in other school types. Furthermore, it was observed that the participants' levels of financial knowledge and financial attitudes were higher than their levels of financial behaviour. These results indicate that the participants were unable to translate their financial knowledge and positive financial attitudes into financial behaviour.
Şule YILDIZ Şeyma ERDOĞDU Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 623 647 10.5281/zenodo.20573576 The Mediating Role Of Green Organizational Identity And Corporate Social Responsibility On The Impact Of Sustainable Leadership On Green Creativity In The Aviation Industry https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1042
Increasing environmental problems and sustainability pressure increase the importance of environmentally focused leadership approaches in organizations. In this context, it is important to understand how sustainable leadership affects employees' innovative behaviors towards the environment. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of sustainable leadership on green creativity and to reveal the mediating role of green organizational identity and corporate social responsibility in this relationship. The research data were collected from 411 participants working in the aviation industry through a survey method, and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results of the analysis show that sustainable leadership has positive and significant effects on green organizational identity (β=0.706), corporate social responsibility (β=0.655), and green creativity (β=0.314). In addition, green organizational identity (β=0.357) and corporate social responsibility (β=0.149) have significant effects on green creativity. Mediation analyses reveal that green organizational identity (β=0.252) and corporate social responsibility (β=0.098) play a partial mediating role in the relationship between sustainable leadership and green creativity. When the explanatory level of the model is analyzed, it is seen that 53% of the variance in green creativity (R²=0.530) is explained. Research findings show that sustainable leadership practices play an important role in developing employees' environmentally oriented creative behaviors.
Yaşar ŞAHİN Muharrem ESENKAYA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 648 678 10.5281/zenodo.20573588 Perceived Internal Union Democracy And Union Cynicism: Evidence From Union-Member Public Officials in Türkiye https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1067
This study examines the relationship between perceived internal union democracy and union cynicism among union-member public officials in Muğla (Türkiye). Using a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected online from members affiliated with different unions (N = 236). Perceived internal union democracy and union cynicism were measured using established scales, and hypotheses were tested via Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results indicate a strong, negative association between internal union democracy and overall union cynicism (r = −0.787, p < .01). Regression analyses further show that internal union democracy explains a substantial proportion of variance in cynicism (R² = 0.619), with a stronger association for the cognitive-affective component (R² = 0.670) than for the behavioural component (R² = 0.077). These findings suggest that the effective functioning of internal union democracy-reflected in transparency, participation, and accountability-may play a critical role in limiting members’ distrust and negative orientations towards unions. The study contributes to debates on union legitimacy and highlights the importance of democratic mechanisms for sustaining union-member relations.
Hilmi ETCİ Merve ÇELİK GÖNÜLTAŞ Vedat ÖNER Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 679 701 10.5281/zenodo.20573598 The Relationship Between Accounting Information Quality and Corporate Governance: A Research Within the Scope of the Sectors Most Affected by The Pandemic https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1068
The presentation of accounting information in a manner that meets the needs of all stakeholders is a critical issue in the decision-making processes of businesses. At this point, accounting information quality emerges as a key indicator. In addition to the existence of various methods for measuring accounting information quality, corporate governance practices are among the primary factors influencing this quality. Although there is an established empirical view that accounting information quality is positively affected by corporate governance practices under normal conditions, it remains an open question whether this effect persists under extraordinary circumstances such as the pandemic period. Accordingly, this study aims to investigate the relationship between accounting information quality and corporate governance within the context of the sectors most affected during the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, data from 2015-2025 were used for 17 companies in the most affected sectors, namely tourism, air transport, and automotive, whose shares are traded on the Borsa İstanbul (BIST).

The measurement of accounting information quality was conducted within the value relevance framework using the Ohlson (1995), Ohlson t+1, and Gu & Li (2016) models, and its relationship with corporate governance indicators was examined. In the study, which employed panel regression analysis, a negative relationship was identified—within the scope of the Ohlson models—between accounting information quality and the number of board members, the number of independent board members, the number of audit committee members, and the number of executive board members. The Gu-Li (2016) model of accounting information quality has been found to be positively relationship with both ownership density and number of audit committee members. The findings contribute to the literature by indicating that under extraordinary conditions such as the pandemic period, the direction of cause-and-effect relationships may change, and that more recent models may yield different results compared to earlier approaches.
Burak KAYIHAN Yılmaz Çalışkan Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 702 727 10.5281/zenodo.20573604 A Hybrid MEREC-CoCoSo-MARCOS Framework for Assessing Financial Performance: Evidence from Istanbul Stock Exchange https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1087
This study evaluates the financial performance of firms operating in the BIST Non-Metallic Mineral Products Sector for the period 2013–2022 by employing a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) framework. The analysis integrates the MEREC method for objective criterion weighting with the CoCoSo method for performance ranking, while the MARCOS approach and Spearman rank correlation analysis are used to test the robustness and consistency of the results. Four financial indicators representing liquidity, operational efficiency, profitability, and financial risk dimensions are included in the evaluation: Current Ratio (CUR), Asset Turnover Ratio (ATR), EBITDA Margin (EBM), and Leverage Ratio (LEV). The findings reveal that EBITDA Margin consistently emerges as the most influential criterion throughout the analysis period, indicating that operational profitability constitutes the primary determinant of firm performance in the sector. In contrast, leverage and liquidity indicators exhibit relatively lower explanatory power. The ranking results further demonstrate that certain firms maintain consistently superior performance across the years, while others display persistent underperformance and greater sensitivity to changing macroeconomic conditions. Robustness tests conducted through the MARCOS method produce highly similar ranking structures, and the Spearman correlation coefficients indicate strong statistical agreement between the applied methodologies. Overall, the results suggest that financial performance in the BIST non-metallic mineral products sector is predominantly driven by operational profitability and efficiency rather than short-term liquidity or debt structure. The study contributes to the literature by applying recent objective weighting and compromise-based MCDM methods within a sector-specific and long-term financial performance evaluation framework.
Musa OVALI Kubilay Çağrı YILMAZ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 728 754 10.5281/zenodo.20573610 An Analysis of Overtourism in Hong Kong: Its Negative Impacts on Tourist Experiences and Locals https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1082
Overtourism is one of the main problems faced by many destinations around the world. While national governments strive to increase tourism revenues and tourist numbers, they also seek ways to mitigate the negative effects of overtourism. Overtourism practices that exceed the carrying capacity of a region not only harm the environment but also lead to dissatisfaction in visitor experiences, causing a decline in the quality of life of the local population and leading them to oppose tourism development. This study investigates the negative effects of overtourism practices on tourist experiences and the local population in Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of China, which is the second most visited city in the world according to 2025 statistics. The methodology used is qualitative research, specifically literature review and observation. The results show that Hong Kong is exposed to overtourism practices, creating dissatisfaction by reducing visitor experiences, and that the local population reacts negatively to overtourism. Among the proposed solutions, it is emphasized that in order to ensure sustainable tourism development, different types of tourism should be developed and the pressure of tourism on certain regions should be reduced through smart tourism applications.
Cengiz DEMİR Osman Barış DOĞRU Yayha GÜLLE Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 755 763 10.5281/zenodo.20800508 A Panel Data Analysis of the Impact of Economic Growth, Population Change, Innovation, and Renewable Energy Policies on the Carbon Footprint in G-7 Countries https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/935
This research aims to empirically analyze the environmental sustainability factors in G-7 countries. The study reveals the dynamic interactions between carbon footprint (dependent variable) and economic growth, population change, renewable energy consumption and technological innovation (independent variables). The study examines the causality relationship between carbon footprint and macroeconomic variables using a panel data set covering the period 1991-2023. In this context, Panel VAR model and Granger Causality test are applied to the dataset as methodology. The results of the analysis show that renewable energy consumption and technological innovation have a negative impact on carbon footprint. On the other hand, economic growth and population change have positive effects on carbon footprint. These findings suggest that G-7 countries should prioritize renewable energy transition and RandD investments in their climate policies. Given the increasing importance of carbon footprint, especially with the Paris Climate Agreement, it is thought that this research will contribute to the literature in terms of identifying the underlying causes of the problems and providing a solution. In addition, it is important that the transformation is initiated and supported by the countries with the strongest economies.
Alper ASLAN Vurgun TOPCUOGLU Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 764 787 10.5281/zenodo.20800519 Democratization and Authoritarian Drift in Türkiye: The Democrat Party Era, 1950-1960 https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/948
This study examines the processes of democratization and authoritarianism during the Democrat Party era in Türkiye, within a historical, structural, and political context. Representing democratic hopes following the transition to a multi-party system, the Democrat Party quickly gained the support of broad segments of the population and initially implemented reforms that strengthened participatory democracy. However, this reformist approach gradually gave way to authoritarian practices. The reduction of political legitimacy to mere electoral success, the suppression of opposition, the restriction of freedom of expression, and interference in institutional domains such as the judiciary and academia led to the erosion of democratic structures. The study examines how, during a period when the dynamics of democratization and authoritarianism became intertwined, the leadership-centered governance model and deepening political polarization compromised institutional functioning and public trust. Economic crises, the rise of nationalist rhetoric, and the influence of foreign policy emerge as key factors fueling authoritarian tendencies. The findings of this study indicate that the experience of the Democrat Party era demonstrates that sustainable democratization in Türkiye requires not only institutional arrangements but also a transformation of political culture.
Ömer TAYLAN Gökhan TUNCEL Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 788 806 10.5281/zenodo.20800521 Scale Development Study on the Problems Faced By Smes in the Green Marketing Implementation Process https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/999
The escalating severity of global environmental issues has rendered green marketing a strategic imperative for businesses. For Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), however, this transition presents numerous barriers, including financial constraints, a lack of expertise, and technological inadequacies. This study develops and validates a psychometrically sound scale to measure the attitudes of Turkish SMEs concerning the problems they face during the implementation of green marketing practices. Using a descriptive and exploratory research design, data were collected from 387 managers in the Ankara Ostim Organized Industrial Zone. Construct validity was established through Exploratory and Confirmatory Fac-tor Analyses (EFA/CFA), resulting in the 11-item Green Marketing Problems (GMP) Scale. The scale exhibits a two-factor structure with strong psychometric properties (χ²/df=2.800, CFI=.965, RMSEA=.068). The first factor, “Perceived Consumer Barriers” (5 items), addresses issues such as insufficient customer awareness and the price perception of green products. The second factor, “Operational and Competitive Inadequacies” (6 items), covers challenges like difficulties in reverse logistics and competition with larger corporations. The study contributes by conceptualizing these barriers not as isolated problems, but as a systemic vicious cycle that fosters strategic inertia. In providing a standardized instrument to empirically measure these challenges, the research addresses a methodological gap in the existing literature.
Murat Selim SELVİ Candan ÖZGÜN AYAR Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 807 845 10.5281/zenodo.20800523 The Effects of Macroprudential Policy Actions on Non-Bank Credit Growth: Evidence from Turkey https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1005
This paper examines relationships between macroprudential policy actions and quarterly borrower-side NBFI credit growth in Turkey in the 2005Q1–2021Q4 period. The dataset covers the period from April 10, 2020, to February 12, 2026, at daily frequency, split into 70% training and 30% testing. Hyperparameter optimization was conducted across varying window lengths, epochs, batch sizes, neuron counts, and dropout rates. Model performance was evaluated using MAE, MSE, MAPE, and R² metrics. Results indicate that GRU-based models consistently yield lower error values and more stable performance on cryptocurrency time series. The hybrid CNN-GRU architecture produces competitive results on certain series; however, attention mechanism-integrated models generally increase error values. These findings suggest that model complexity does not guarantee superior prediction accuracy in financial time series, and that compact architectures may offer stronger generalization in highly volatile data environments. The study also addresses a methodological gap by benchmarking multiple deep learning models under identical datasets and experimental conditions.
Aynur İncekırık Mohammad Luqman YOUSUFİ Nihat Altuntepe Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 866 894 10.5281/zenodo.20800529 Technological Readiness as a Driver of Artificial Intelligence Adoption in Public Administration and Auditing: Serial Mediation by Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1019
The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of technological readiness on public employees’ adoption of artificial intelligence, considering the serial mediating roles of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. For the research, data was collected from 409 public employees working throughout Turkey who voluntarily participated in the study using convenience and snowball sampling techniques from non-random sampling methods via an online questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics, IBM SPSS AMOS, and PROCESS Macro v4.2. The findings revealed that technological readiness directly and significantly affects the AI adoption. Furthermore, the statistically supported finding that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness play a serial multiple mediating role in the effect of technological readiness on the adoption of AI. The findings suggest that strengthening public personnel perceptions of technology especially perceived ease of use and usefulness is critical for increasing AI adoption in public administration and auditing. In this respect, the study contributes to the development of strategies for the effective implementation of AI applications and to transformation policies that center on employees’ perceptions of technology.
Reyhan SARIÇİÇEK B. Human resources professionals hold a unique position in terms of quality of working life, as they are a professional group that both manages employee experience and is at the center of organizational processes. Therefore, examining the perceptions of human resources professionals regarding quality of working life constitutes an important research area for understanding organizational working conditions. The aim of this research is to reveal the perceptions of human resources professionals regarding quality of working life and the organizational factors that shape this perception. The research was conducted using a qualitative research method, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 participants working in managerial positions in the human resources departments of companies operating in different sectors in Istanbul. Participants were reached using the snowball sampling method. The obtained data were analyzed using the MAXQDA 2020 program in accordance with the thematic analysis approach developed by Braun and Clarke (2006). The analysis identified six key themes influencing quality of working life: legal security and perception of employment, work structure and work-life balance, career management and fairness, organizational climate and participation, nature of work and qualification fit, and wage policy and economic satisfaction. The findings indicate that perceived job security, open communication, and job-person fit positively impact quality of working life; while long working hours, role ambiguity, and limitations in career development can negatively affect this quality.
Seçil GÜRÜN KARATEPE Gökçe TOPÇU ONAR Sıla Meltem ARMAN TÜRKMEN Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 913 947 10.5281/zenodo.20800533 Rethinking Accounting Research through Postmodernism: Mapping Citation Networks and Intellectual Structure https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1040
This study examines the epistemic coherence and conceptual structure of postmodern accounting by analysing 220 scholarly publications through a dual lens of citation mapping and conceptual classification. Drawing on four interrelated theoretical strands—postmodernism, genealogy, deconstruction, and dialogic accounting—the research investigates whether postmodern accounting constitutes a fragmented discursive space or a cumulative, pluralistic intellectual tradition. Using bibliometric data from Web of Science and ScienceDirect, the study identifies key authors, highly cited publications, and patterns of conceptual convergence. The findings indicate the emergence of a discernible epistemic architecture, in which dialogic approaches have gained significant prominence in the past decade, while genealogical and postmodern foundations remain influential through the works of Foucault, Miller, and Hoskin. A small set of publications—such as Brown and Dillard, 2015 and Miller and O’Leary, 1987—function as epistemic hubs, bridging multiple paradigms and shaping the critical grammar of the field. By integrating heatmap visualizations and network diagrams, the analysis highlights a core–periphery structure in which multi-paradigm works act as conceptual anchors and reveal dynamic research trends. Overall, the study concludes that postmodern accounting is not dissolving into theoretical fragmentation but is consolidating into a reflexive, discursively rich, and pluralist field of inquiry.
Çağatay YAĞCI Fırat Botan ŞAN Alper ERSERİM Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 948 973 10.5281/zenodo.20800535 The Impact of Perceived Brand Mass Prestige on Brand Advocacy: The Sequential Mediating Roles of Brand Perception and Brand Happiness https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1041
This study examines the impact of perceived brand mass prestige on brand advocacy within the framework of the successive mediating roles of brand perception and brand happiness. In today's competitive markets, brands influence consumer behavior by offering symbolic and emotional values beyond functional utility. In this context, mass prestige stands out as a significant element combining accessibility with perceived status. The research is based on the cognitive-emotional behavioral hierarchy approach and the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) paradigm. Within this framework, perceived brand prestige is considered the stimulus; brand perception and brand happiness are the organisms; and brand advocacy is the behavioral outcome. Data were collected through surveys from 963 participants and analyzed using SPSS 26 with PROCESS Macro 3.4 (Model 6). The findings show that perceived mass prestige significantly and positively influences brand perception and brand happiness. Furthermore, it was determined that brand perception has a strong influence on brand happiness, and brand happiness has a strong influence on brand advocacy. In contrast, the direct impact of mass prestige on brand advocacy is not significant. The results reveal that the effect occurs only indirectly and through a sequential mediation mechanism. This highlights the decisive role of emotional processes in consumer behavior.
Filiz ÇOPUROĞLU Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 974 989 10.5281/zenodo.20800537 The Impact Of Clustering Indicators Based on Cluster Actors on Sustainable Local Development: An Application in Tra1 Region Provinces https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1044
Clustering is one of the fundamental strategies contributing to Sustainable Local Development (SLD). This study aims to determine the effects of cluster indicators related to cluster actors (suppliers/producers (TEDÜR), sellers/consumers (SATÜK), supporting/intermediary institutions (DESAR), and public and stakeholder support (KAPAYDES)) on the economic, social, and environmental indicators of SLD in the provinces of Erzurum, Erzincan, and Bayburt in the TRA1 Region, one of Turkey's underdeveloped sub-regions. For this purpose, a survey-based field study was conducted on firms belonging to activity sectors grouped according to NACE Rev.2 codes, and regression estimations were made with the obtained data. According to the regression analysis results, cluster actors of different sizes and directions have an impact on the economic, social, and environmental indicators of SLD, and the most influential cluster actor is DESAR. Furthermore, based on the results of the multiple regression analysis, it was determined that a cluster to be established in Erzurum Province would be suitable in terms of SLD. Successful publicly funded cluster formations in the TRA1 region will contribute both to achieving social security and reducing income disparities between provinces and regions.
Omer Faruk ASLAN Sevda YAPRAKLI Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 990 1015 10.5281/zenodo.20800539 Dirty Work: A Study of Societal Perceptions and Personal Experiences in the Construction of Social Identity https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1092
This study, examining the physical, social, and moral dimensions of dirty work, bases its theoretical foundation on Social Identity Theory, which asserts that individuals’ self-perceptions are shaped through group membership, and aims to explain the impact of dirty work on social identity. It investigated how individuals stigmatized by their work make sense of their social identities and how societal perceptions shape identity formation through qualitative in-depth interviews. Findings revealed participants regarded their work as valuable, yet widespread prejudices persisted. This situation compels individuals into a dilemma between occupational identity and stigmatization, complicating their construction of positive social identity.
Damla YELEK Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1016 1046 10.5281/zenodo.20800543 The Mediating Role of Psychological Well-Being and Work-Life Balance in the Relationship Between Perceived Organizational Support and Work Engagement https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/887
This study investigates the impact of perceived organizational support (POS) on work engagement (WE), with a particular focus on the sequential mediating roles of work-life balance (WLB) and psychological well-being (PWB). The literature review highlights a scarcity of comprehensive studies that examine both the direct impact of POS on WE and its indirect influence through WLB and PWB. Therefore, this study seeks to fill this gap and contribute to the literature by analyzing the interactions among these constructs. Data were collected via a questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. The findings indicate that the direct effect of POS on WE remains significant, while WLB and PWB partially mediate this relationship in a sequential manner. These results support a partial mediation model in which WLB and PWB mediate the relationship in sequence. Overall, the findings underscore the role of organizational support mechanisms in enhancing employees' work engagement through both direct and indirect pathways.
Gamze ÖZCAN Ergün KARA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1047 1066 10.5281/zenodo.20800545 Comparing The Gaps Between Policy Making and Implementation in Solid Waste Management: Cases of Germany, Japan, India, Usa, Kenya and Singapore https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1061
Solid waste management is essentially one of the most pressing problems in today's world; It increases its importance every day as both an environmental and social impasse. Rapid population growth, urban accumulation and unbridled consumption habits not only increase the amount of waste; It creates a multi-layered crisis ranging from pollution to public health and from there to economic losses. This is exactly why governments are under serious pressure to produce ambitious and solution-oriented policies. But the point is; The gap between those theoretical goals on paper and the hard realities on the ground never closes. While this state of disconnection reduces the efficiency of policies, it also unfortunately disrupts dreams of sustainable development. The main axis of this article is the wide gaps between policy design and implementation practices. Why are there these gaps? What are the consequences? While pursuing these questions, we examine the practices of countries with very different administrative and economic structures, from Germany to Japan, from India to Kenya and Singapore, through comparative case studies. At the centre of our discussion is the heavy burden of these disruptions on social justice and economic efficiency. The point we have reached is clear: Failure in waste management is not just a technical deficiency; on the contrary, it is a phenomenon that is linked to the quality of governance, political determination and institutional flexibility. Therefore, to improve the processes, not only a technical solution but also a more holistic perspective is required.
Cüneyt TELSAÇ Ferhat ARI Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1067 1092 10.5281/zenodo.20800547 The Position of the Right to a Healthy Environment in the Human Rights System: Classical Rights Theory and Debates on Rights Inflation https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1054
This research critically examines the place of the right to a healthy environment within the human rights system in the context of classical rights theory criteria and the debate on rights inflation. Over the last fifty years, the right to a healthy environment has become increasingly prominent in constitutional arrangements, international texts, and court decisions, particularly under the heading of third-generation “solidarity rights.” Significant conceptual ambiguities exist in the literature regarding the extent to which the right to a healthy environment aligns with the classical subjective rights model. This article evaluates the right to a healthy environment based on four criteria: the identifiability of the right holder, the determinability of those obligated, the clarity of the nature of the right, and its applicability in the judicial process. By examining climate cases such as Urgenda, Neubauer, and KlimaSeniorinnen, it is shown that courts often provide environmental protection by broadly interpreting existing fundamental rights from an environmental perspective, rather than establishing an independent right to a healthy environment. The study argues that the right to a healthy environment should be understood more meaningfully within a multi-layered framework encompassing a constitutional principle, procedural environmental safeguards, and environmental interpretations of existing rights, rather than as a directly claimable subjective right
Mahmut ÖZDEMİRKOL Atilla YAYLA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1093 1107 10.5281/zenodo.20800549 Institutional Structure, Union Density and Voluntary Sustainability Commitments: A Panel Data Analysis of European Countries https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1027
This study empirically examines the macroeconomic and institutional determinants shaping participation in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) using a panel data set created for 25 European countries and Turkey for the period 2013–2022. Within this scope, the effects of the rule of law, economic capacity, trade openness, and union density on voluntary sustainability commitments were tested. Due to violations of key panel data assumptions regarding cross-sectional dependence, heteroskedasticity, and autocorrelation, the fixed effects model and Driscoll-Kraay robust standard errors were used in the estimations. The findings show that the rule of law, economic capacity, and trade openness have a statistically significant and positive effect on UNGC participation. This result indicates that strong institutional structures and integration into global markets encourage firms to engage in international sustainability and transparency initiatives. In contrast, union density, representing labor institutionalization, was found to have a significant and negative effect on UNGC participation. This finding suggests that strong organized labor may, in some institutional contexts, steer firms toward more local and binding worker-rights mechanisms rather than global voluntary commitments, suggesting a possible substitution effect. The key findings are supported by robustness tests using lagged variables and cluster-robust standard errors. The study contributes to the literature by revealing the interaction between global sustainability policies and countries’ institutional structures and labor dynamics.
Burak KAYIHAN Muhammed Seyyid YELEK Nusret KARA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1108 1133 10.5281/zenodo.20800553 Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration: A Comprehensive Bibliometric Review https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1062
Abstract

Current international academic literature on public administration unequivocally highlights the key role of artificial intelligence, producing a full body of work that seamlessly integrates technology, law, ethics, and social sciences through an interdisciplinary framework. Although many academic gaps and research opportunities remain on the subject. Mapping the field's intellectual structure using 344 peer-reviewed articles from the Web of Science (1992, 2025), this study presents a bibliometric analysis of artificial intelligence (AI) research in public administration. Analyzed through the Bibliometrix package, the findings reveal rapid growth since 2019. The peak output is in 2024. Although the United States and China dominate total publication volume, Germany and Japan achieve higher average citations per article. Although elite western institutions, such as Harvard and Oxford, account for the most productive research, they are not without competition. Since key thematic clusters include artificial intelligence, governance, accountability, and digital transformation, they provide a full framework for analysis. A multi-theoretical framework drawing on National Innovation Systems and Center-periphery Theory, among others, is applied by the study to contextualize geographic and institutional disparities. Turkey contributes 12 articles, indicating emerging engagement. Although the analysis highlights the field's geographic concentration, interdisciplinary nature. Swift expansion, it offers a foundational map for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners dealing with AI's integration into public administration.
Hasan Ege SÖĞÜT Sefa USTA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1134 1159 10.5281/zenodo.20800555 The Mediating Role Of Presenteeism in The Effect of Perceived Job Insecurity on Emotional Exhaustion Levels: A Study on Accounting Professionals https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1002
This study examines the mediating function of presenteeism in the association between perceived job insecurity and emotional exhaustion among accounting professionals. Empirical data were obtained from 203 practitioners through a structured survey instrument. The hypothesized research model was tested using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), and the mediation effect was assessed through bootstrap procedures based on 5,000 resamples to ensure the robustness of indirect effect estimates. The findings reveal that perceived job insecurity exerts a statistically significant and positive influence on emotional exhaustion, while demonstrating a significant negative effect on presenteeism. In turn, presenteeism is found to be negatively and significantly related to emotional exhaustion. The bootstrap results confirm the presence of a statistically significant partial mediation effect, consistent with a complementary mediation framework. These results indicate that job insecurity intensifies emotional exhaustion not only through direct psychological strain but also indirectly through diminished cognitive engagement and reduced functional work capacity.
Fatih İbrahim KURŞUNMADEN Servet Say Fırat Kınalı Abdullah Yılmaz Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1160 1180 10.5281/zenodo.20800557 The Effect of The Relationship Between Streamer and Viewer on the Viewer's Buying Behavior https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/942
This study investigates the factors influencing purchase intention on live streaming platforms, focusing on parasocial interaction, streamer communication style, entertainment, participation, personal identification, and product interest. In an environment of increasingly intense global competition, innovation has become one of the key determinants of sustainable economic growth, leading governments to rely more heavily on tax-based policy instruments to support R&D activities. However, the existing literature has not reached a clear consensus on the impact of R&D incentives on innovation, and long-run cross-country analyses remain relatively limited. Using a panel dataset covering the period 2007-2022, innovation performance is proxied by the Global Innovation Index, while R&D policies are analysed within the framework of tax incentives, public R&D expenditures, and firm-level R&D financing. The empirical findings indicate that R&D tax incentives generally exert a positive effect on innovation performance in OECD countries. The impact of firm-level R&D financing on innovation outputs strengthens over time, whereas the contribution of public R&D expenditures appears to be more limited and sensitive to implementation conditions. Overall, the results suggest that the effects of R&D policies on innovation materialise not in the short run but in the long run through cumulative mechanisms. Long-term and comparative empirical evidence highlights that tax-based R&D incentives should be considered a central instrument in the design of innovation policies.
Nergis Feride KAPLAN DÖNMEZ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1206 1242 10.5281/zenodo.20800561 Connectivity, Tourism, and Diversification: An Assessment of Central Asia as an Emerging Market https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/947
This paper examines the links between connectivity, tourism, and economic diversification in Central Asia, focusing on the region's transformation from historical isolation to an emerging market at the crossroads of global tourism. Using secondary data and sectoral case studies, the study analyzes how investments in tangible connectivity (physical infrastructure such as railways, roads, and airports) and intangible connectivity (regulation, digital technologies, and public policies) support tourism growth, foster regional integration, and contribute to overall economic development. By examining policy reforms, visa streamlining, and digital transformation, the research assesses these factors through a comparative analysis of national tourism trends, including visitor numbers, revenue, and infrastructure investment. The findings demonstrate a rapid post-pandemic recovery, a significant increase in international and domestic tourist flows, and substantial progress in diversifying tourism products. However, persistent obstacles such as inconsistent service quality, inadequate infrastructure, high travel costs, and the lack of a unified regional brand continue to hold back the sector. The study concludes that strategic investments in communication, collaborative regional marketing, and sustainable management are essential for Central Asia to become a competitive, resilient, and diversified tourism hub
Mohamed EL GABY Volkan ALTINTAŞ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1243 1270 10.5281/zenodo.20800563 The Effect of Corporate Governance Principles on Job Satisfaction: Research on the Asset Management Sector https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/924
Corporate governance defines the structure defined by the performance monitoring and evaluation system, which defines the company's objectives and the means to achieve them. This study comparatively examines the determinants of environmental degradation in EU and BRICS economies over the period 1995-2021. Specifically, it analyzes the effects of fossil energy consumption, renewable energy consumption, economic growth, industrialization, and natural resource rents on environmental degradation. To provide a comprehensive empirical framework, the PMG-DFE ARDL approach is employed to capture short- and long-run dynamics, while the CS-ARDL approach is used as a robustness check against potential cross-sectional dependence. In addition, simultaneous quantile regression is applied to examine heterogeneous effects across different emission levels, and the Emirmahmutoğlu and Köse (2011) panel causality test is used to identify directional causal relationships among the variables. The findings reveal that the determinants of environmental degradation differ between EU and BRICS economies. The long-run results indicate that fossil energy consumption, industrialization, and natural resource rents increase environmental degradation in both groups, whereas economic growth has a mitigating effect. Renewable energy reduces environmental degradation in the EU but does not exert a significant mitigating effect in BRICS economies. The error-correction coefficients show that adjustment toward the long-run equilibrium occurs faster in the EU than in BRICS. The quantile regression results further indicate that fossil energy remains the primary driver of emissions in both groups, although its effects vary across emission levels. The causality results reveal bidirectional causal linkages between environmental degradation and the explanatory variables. Overall, the findings suggest that differentiated policy strategies are needed to enhance environmental sustainability in EU and BRICS economies.
Mahir TOSUNOĞLU Gül HUYUGÜZEL KIŞLA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1288 1331 10.5281/zenodo.21002585 Aesthetics in David Lynch's Cinema: A Visual Narrative Analysis of Blue Velvet https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/957
The aesthetic and narrative integrity of a cinematic work is shaped by the director's conscious combination of cinematographic elements. Cinematography is more than just a visual tool; it is a fundamental building block that constructs the narrative's world of meaning. Technical components such as camera angles, lighting, colour palettes, and spatial arrangements play an active role in conveying the characters' inner worlds, emotional transitions, and the subtext of the narrative to the audience while constructing the film's atmosphere. This study analyses David Lynch's 1986 film Blue Velvet within the framework of cinematographic narrative elements. The elements of camera usage, lighting design, composition, and editing in David Lynch's Blue Velvet, selected as a sample, have been examined as fundamental components supporting the narrative's ambiguous and multi-layered structure. The aim of this study is to analyse the narrative of David Lynch's Blue Velvet. To achieve this aim, camera movements, composition, lighting, editing, and sound themes identified within the framework of descriptive analysis were examined in detail. Today’s business environment, where neoliberal policies have created organizational structures in which corporate interests and power are prioritized and accountability is diminished, provides a highly favorable context for managers who display such traits. It makes it difficult to detect psychopathic managers early in their organizations, and it allows them to easily climb the career ladder because they often achieve great organizational success in the short term, even if their approach later leads to corruption, scandals, or financial crises. Furthermore, the tactical acumen, effective communicative skills, captivating personalities, persuasiveness, and calm demeanor of corporate psychopaths, which mask the darker sides to their personalities, make them highly sought-after individuals. The damage such individuals inflict may be limited to the organizational level, but in times of crisis they can cause huge losses for a significant segment of society. This study examines the role of corporate psychopaths on corporate fraud, corporate scandals, and crises. It presents the findings of a bibliometric analysis using data from the Web of Science database from January 1, 2007, to November 16, 2024, accompanied by an extensive literature review. This study strikingly reveals that while there is a consensus that the psychopathic profiles of corporate managers cause corporate collapses, there is surprisingly a lack of academic attention in this topic. It therefore deserves further exploration as an interdisciplinary research area for empirical investigation and multidisciplinary modeling.
Esra BULUT Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1353 1383 10.5281/zenodo.21002591 The Relationship Between Natural Disasters, Real Economic Growth, and Public Debt: Cross-Country Empirical Evidence https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/982
This study aims to examine the effects of natural disaster damage and real economic growth on the general government's gross debt using empirical evidence from 48 countries. The Two-Stage System Generalised Moments (GMM) method was applied for the period 1965–2024 using five-year data. The empirical findings show that an increase in real economic growth statistically significantly reduces the general government's gross debt level. In contrast, an increase in natural disaster damage statistically significantly increases the general government's gross debt level. It was found that the first lag of the general government’s gross debt had an increasing effect on the current debt level.
Semra AYDOĞDU BAĞCI Meltem KESKIN Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1384 1408 10.5281/zenodo.21002593 Rural Development through Intangible Cultural Heritage: The Cultural and Economic Transformative Potential of Pottery https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/983
Intangible cultural heritage plays a significant role in the development of cultural tourism and the sustainable development of rural areas. In recent years, tourists’ growing interest in authentic and local experiences has positioned handicrafts as strategic attractions within tourism destinations. This study examines the pottery tradition of Kınık Village in Bilecik Province, which has a history of approximately 150 years, in terms of its tourism potential and contribution to rural development. The research adopts a qualitative approach, and the data obtained from face-to-face interviews with seven pottery artisans actively working in Kınık Village were analysed using content analysis. The findings reveal that pottery production in Kınık Village strengthens local identity, contributes to both female and male employment, and has the potential to generate local income through tourism activities. Moreover, the village—recognized for the distinctive Kınık akıtmapattern and home to Europe’s largest ceramic jar—offers a differentiated and destination-specific tourism experience by enhancing the visibility of local and cultural values. However, the outmigration of young people poses a significant threat to the sustainability and intergenerational transmission of this traditional craft. In conclusion, integrating pottery into tourism activities and supporting it through conservation-oriented policies contribute not only to the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage but also to the strengthening of rural development and cultural sustainability.
Zeynep YAMAÇ ERDOĞAN Sıla KARACAOĞLU Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1409 1436 10.5281/zenodo.21002595 The Moderating Role of Marital Status in the Effect of Psychological Ownership on Organizational Identification Mediated by Presenteeism https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/993
This study investigates whether marital status shapes the association between psychological ownership and organizational identification, considering presenteeism as an intervening mechanism. A survey was conducted with 386 employees working in various health institutions in Konya. The instruments were validated through exploration factor analysis and reliability analyses. Hypotheses were tested using Hayes’ PROCESS Macro framework. Findings revealed that psychological ownership significantly contributes to organizational identification. The results further indicate a conditional indirect effect through presenteeism. While career calling is recognized as a psychological resource linked to low career distress, the mechanisms that explain this association are not well understood. This study, based on Meaning Making Theory and Control Theory, investigates whether career goal discrepancy levels mediate the relationship between career calling and career distress among 437 future workforces in the emerging adulthood phase. Data were examined utilizing structural equation modeling in SPSS AMOS. The findings revealed that career calling is related to career distress indirectly via career goal discrepancy, indicating that perceptions of discrepancy serve as an important explanatory mechanism. These findings combine calling and discrepancy perspectives, emphasizing the significance of interventions aimed at increasing goal clarity in decision-making processes in the career domain.
Gönül KONAKAY Merve KIRBAŞLAR Sabiha SEVİNÇ ALTAŞ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1461 1480 10.5281/zenodo.21002599 The Relationships between Compassion Fatigue, Quiet Quitting, and Psychological Resilience in Healthcare Workers https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1045
Working conditions create an environment full of more difficulties every day. The methodology of this research is to analyze the dynamic capabilities of businesses. Data was obtained from different small and medium-sized businesses in 2010 and 2022. Cross-sectional data were analyzed longitudinally to determine growth and development trends. In this context, the information form includes basic descriptive data about businesses, human resource needs, strategic goals of businesses (14 items), determination of strategic areas for businesses (7 items), strategic management model (18 items), determination of competitiveness of businesses (13 items). Data regarding basic data and evaluations in their fields were collected. These data were analyzed and classified with appropriate qualitative and quantitative models. Study findings indicate that the businesses included in the sample during the research process have been monitored since 2010 and the cross-sectional data obtained from different studies have been analyzed longitudinally. In this process, the data were integrated qualitatively and quantitatively and analyzed within the framework of the model in the study, (Day and Schoemaker 2018), and the research data was classified to evaluate the basic approaches of businesses in understanding opportunities, perception and evaluation, capturing and mobilizing opportunities and transformation processes between 2010 and 2022. The data obtained according to the research model were discussed under three dimensions within the framework of this model, and the analyses and evaluations were evaluated especially according to the variance in the data of 2010 and 2022.When generalizing research results, a discussion may arise regarding both the data collection tool and the only limited data collected. Therefore, future research may choose to use more data collection methods and expand the data collection sources to cover larger targets. Practical implications of dynamic capabilities are different from the operational characteristics of businesses that are related to their daily activities. Dynamic capabilities refer to the activities of strategically creating, expanding or changing the resource structure. Such strategic alignment models enable businesses to conduct business in a competitive and sustainable manner. Therefore, it is very important for businesses to develop sufficient leadership capacities to develop these capabilities in terms of corporate agility and adaptation.

Originality of this study collects comprehensive information about businesses in two different periods. The data obtained in this process was analyzed longitudinally. The longitudinal evaluation of the actions and capabilities of businesses based on the same variables and research structure and longitude date make the research different from other research.
Murat KASIMOĞLU Zeynep ODABAŞI Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1503 1522 10.5281/zenodo.21002605 The Mediating Role of Work Engagement in the Relationship Between Technostress and Innovative Work Behaviour Among Airline Employees https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1097
In digitalized sectors, information and communication technologies create organizational stress known as technostress. Examining its impact on employees’ innovative work behaviour is important in aviation, where digital systems are widely used. The psychological mechanisms of this relationship remain insufficiently explained. Work engagement, defined as employees’ energy, dedication, and absorption, is a key motivational resource and potential mediator. This study examines the effect of technostress on innovative work behaviour among airline employees and the mediating role of work engagement. A quantitative cross-sectional correlational survey design was used. The sample consists of 412 employees in airline companies operating in Türkiye. Data were collected via an online questionnaire using convenience sampling. The Technostress at Work Scale, Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9), and Innovative Work Behaviour Scale were used. Data were analysed using SPSS 22.0 and PROCESS Macro v4.2. Results indicate technostress negatively affects innovative work behaviour while work engagement partially mediates this relationship
Ahmet Selim SÜZER Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1523 1546 10.5281/zenodo.21002609 Supply-Demand Matching Estimation with Machine Learning in Airline Planning Process https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1120
Airline companies operate in a highly competitive and uncertain environment where efficient resource allocation is essential for maximizing economic performance and supporting sustainability objectives. One of the major challenges in airline planning is matching aircraft capacity with uncertain passenger demand while maintaining operational efficiency. This study proposes a machine learning-based decision support framework that integrates demand uncertainty with aircraft tail assignment. Three nonlinear regression models—Support Vector Regression (SVR) with a Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel, Polynomial Regression, and Random Forest Regression—were employed to predict flight-based economic returns using real-world airline operational data, including aircraft type, passenger demand, and cargo volume. In addition, a bounded prediction mechanism incorporating aircraft capacity constraints was introduced to ensure operational feasibility. Model performance was evaluated using R², Mean Squared Error (MSE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), and cross-validation. At the end of the study, all three regression models achieved a high accuracy rate in representing the data, but the SVR-RBF model performed best. Furthermore, the proposed framework allowed for the determination of demand thresholds for optimal aircraft type selection, contributing to increased economic efficiency and reduced unnecessary capacity utilization. The findings demonstrate that machine learning-based predictive models can effectively support airline planning processes and indirectly contribute to sustainability goals.
Ali AKBABA Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1547 1561 10.5281/zenodo.21002611 Endorser Credibility as a Driver of Consumer Attitudes and Purchase Intentions: An S-O-R Framework https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1075
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of perceived attractiveness, expertise, and trustworthiness dimensions of celebrity endorsers used in advertisements on brand attitudes, and the effect of brand attitudes on purchase intention, within the framework of the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model. Using a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, the study analyzes 67 peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2025 that meet predefined inclusion criteria. The selection process followed the PRISMA protocol, and the findings were synthesized through thematic analysis. Overall, the reviewed literature indicates a predominantly positive association between AI adoption and financial performance. In particular, AI investments tend to generate more pronounced benefits in the medium to long term, especially in accounting-based performance indicators such as return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), and operating profit margins. Market-based performance measures also frequently respond positively to AI initiatives; however, these effects appear to be more contingent on contextual and firm-specific conditions. Nevertheless, several studies report limited or even negative short-term outcomes, largely due to high implementation costs, organizational alignment challenges, and learning-curve effects associated with AI deployment. By integrating the empirical evidence through the lenses of the Resource-Based View, Dynamic Capabilities Theory, and Information Processing Theory, this study highlights the conditional nature of financial value creation from AI adoption and provides implications for managers and policymakers.
Yunus Emre KAHRAMAN Yılmaz ÇALIŞKAN Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1639 1662 10.5281/zenodo.21002621 Asymmetric Effects of Macroeconomic and Financial Shocks on Industrial Production: Evidence from Turkiye https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1036
This study investigates the macroeconomic and financial determinants of industrial production in Türkiye, focusing on the symmetric and asymmetric effects of key financial variables. Specifically, it examines whether positive and negative shocks exert differential impacts on industrial production in the short and long run. The analysis employs monthly data for Türkiye covering the period 2016M01–2025M12. The model includes the capacity utilization rate, CDS premium, Global Economic Policy Uncertainty index, energy consumption, export unit value index, and the USD/TRY exchange rate. To capture potential nonlinearities and asymmetric adjustments, the Nonlinear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) approach is applied. Long-run relationships are examined using the bounds testing procedure, while short-run dynamics and asymmetries are assessed through error correction and Wald tests. The bounds test confirms the existence of a long-run cointegration relationship. The error correction term (−0.1963, p<0.01) indicates that approximately 19.6% of short-run disequilibrium is corrected each month, implying convergence within nearly five months. Short-run results reveal significant asymmetric effects. While positive exchange rate shocks have no immediate impact, their two-period lag increases industrial production (0.1729, p<0.01). In contrast, positive CDS shocks exert an immediate negative effect (−0.0893, p<0.01). Capacity utilization shows the strongest positive short-run impact (1.4374, p<0.01). By employing a nonlinear framework, the study provides evidence that financial shocks influence industrial production asymmetrically, highlighting the dominance of short-run dynamics in an emerging market context.
Kezban HITAY SARP Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1663 1686 10.5281/zenodo.21002623 The Mediating Role of Perception of Organizational Support in the Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Conflict Management Styles https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1108
This study aims to examine the effect of emotional intelligence levels of employees on conflict management styles and to reveal the mediating role that perceived organizational support plays in this relationship. The study investigates how individuals’ abilities of emotional awareness, empathy, and self-regulation affect their strategies for managing workplace conflicts. The study utilized quantitative research design. The data was obtained from 435 employees working in public and private organizations in Sakarya, Istanbul, and Ankara. The study employed the Emotional Intelligence Scale adapted by Kayihan and Arslan (2016), the Conflict Management Styles Scale developed by Koruklu, Totan, and Sağkal (2015), and the Perceived Organizational Support Scale translated by Yokuş (2006). The analysis of the data were performed through SPSS 27.0 and AMOS software using descriptive statistics, correlation, multiple regression, and mediation analysis based on the Baron and Kenny (1986) approach. According to the findings, emotional intelligence affects both conflict management styles and perceived organizational support significantly and positively. Furthermore, perceived organizational support was revealed to mediate the relationship between emotional intelligence and conflict management styles partially. Consequently, employees with higher emotional intelligence who perceive greater organizational support are inclined toward more constructive, empathetic, and cooperative approaches in conflict situations. These results emphasize the need to develop training programs centered on emotional intelligence and foster a supportive organizational culture in contemporary workplaces.
Ahmet Fatih ÖZYILMAZ Copyright (c) 2026 International Journal of Contemporary Economics and Administrative Sciences https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2026-06-30 2026-06-30 16 1 1687 1709 10.5281/zenodo.21002625 Mapping The Evolution of "Organizational Development And Change Management" Articles: A Bibliometric Review of Web of Science (WoS) Data https://www.ijceas.com/ijceas/article/view/1032
Despite the growing interest in “organizational development and change management” literature, bibliometric studies shedding light on the progression of this body of knowledge are still limited.
